Please sign up for a 3- or 4-hour shift. This is a 13-and-older activity. 

There is lots to do! You are welcome to volunteer for a longer shift and on additional days.

The tree lighting celebration is Monday, December 7, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8 PM.

We will take the tree down on Saturday, January 9, 2027, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Although Grace Cathedral graciously hosts the tree by allowing us to display the World Tree of Hope ® there, Rainbow World Fund created the tree as a symbol of global unity and universal love; its purpose is purely humanitarian, with the message that we are all one human family. It is open to everyone regardless of belief or non-belief.

Rainbow World Fund's World Tree of Hope ® design and execution team: Linda Mihara, Karen Kai, Keiko Kubo, Jun Hamamoto, Mel Heupel, and Jeff Cotter.

Our special thanks to the following individuals and organizations that helped us create the 2026 RWF World Tree of Hope. The tree has over 17,000 origami models on it. Each origami model is folded (some models are created from 6 separate pieces of paper), wired, and submerged in a liquid fireproofing solution, then dried and reshaped by being flat-ironed. Each model is then hand-wired to the tree. The tree has 10,000 lights on it. Creating this year’s tree was a group effort involving over 300 volunteers and 2100 hours.
